LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 281-278 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.94 g, 1 h). HPAKΛEIΩN Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with Skylla hurling a stone; behind her neck, E. Rev. APIΣ Herakles standing facing, head to left, holding club in his right hand and bow and arrow in his left; lion skin draped over his left arm; to upper left, owl standing right. HN Italy 1385. Van Keuren 87. An attractive, bright example, very well struck and with a lovely head of Athena. Minor flan fault on the obverse and the reverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, virtually as struck.
